This year, the BScN annual Synapse Nursing Symposium will be held on June 7th, 2023 on the Kingston Campus of St. Lawrence College under the theme Building Back: Envisioning the Future of Nursing. and we are excited to confirm our Synapse 2023 keynote speaker: Dr. Rosanra (Rosie) Yoon. Dr. Yoon is an assistant Professor at the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing, Faculty of Community Services, Toronto Metropolitan University Evaluation and QI Lead, Mid-West Toronto Ontario Health Team.
Rosie’s Keynote Address title will be: Sustaining Nursing Workforce Resiliency in the face of Adversity: A Trauma-informed Organizational Capability Approach
With over 20 years experience as a nurse in the field of substance use and mental health working from a trauma-informed approach, Rosanra (Rosie) Yoon’s (she/her) completed her PhD at the Institute for Health Policy Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto examining organizational capability in trauma-informed care as it relates to patient and provider outcomes. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship as an inaugural Ontario Health Team (OHT) Impact Fellow as an embedded
health services researcher prior to joining the faculty of community services at Toronto Metropolitan University. She also works as an organizational consultant in trauma-informed organizational capability
as it relates to supporting workforce resiliency and mental health. Her other areas of research focusses on health services evaluation with a particular focus on integrated care for people experiencing structural vulnerabilities, substance use and mental health challenges using participatory methods.
