You are invited to submit an abstract for the 8th Annual Tri-campus Scholarship Symposium “Synapse”, which will take place at the Kingston campus on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Abstracts are welcome from nursing educators, faculty, alumni, community members, and students. This is an opportunity to share, collaborate, and network with colleagues.
Participants are invited to send abstracts for oral and poster presentations that address this year’s theme “Standing Up for Our Values: Community, Social Justice, Professionalism & Innovation”. We welcome a variety of research and scholarly activities.

Abstracts for project proposals, works in progress/on-going projects, and completed research/projects will be accepted.
Abstracts must be sent to the Synapse Committee via the online abstract system: Synapse 2024 Abstract Submission Form. Abstracts must be a maximum of 250 words. This word count does not include titles, headings, and references. The following information must be included:
- Presentation format
- Presentation title and full list of author(s)
- Presenter(s)
- Scholarly activity
- Background/context
- Purpose/aim
- Methods/results for research studies
- Evaluation/outcomes for other scholarly activities
- Impact/application
Submissions will be peer-reviewed based on the following criteria:
- Originality
- Merit/relevance
- Findings
- Clarity
- Connection with the conference theme is considered an asset
Please indicate if the study involves human subjects and whether it has received Research Ethics Board approval. Also, please indicate your preferred presentation format.
Formats include:
A. Oral Presentation
- A1. 25 minutes (20 minutes presentation + 5 min Q&A): for completed work.
- A2. 10 minutes (7 minutes presentation + 3 min Q&A): for project proposals, presentation of a paper, or work in progress
B. Poster presentation (posters will be set up during breaks for discussion between authors and participants).
The deadline for submission is April 17, 2024. Decisions will be sent out the week of May 6, 2024. Authors will be requested to confirm attendance at the conference to present their work within a week of receiving the acceptance.
